First Interstate Properties

First Interstate Properties has developed over 4 million square feet of first-class retail space in Northeast Ohio, including Legacy Village as well as Ohio’s first LEED designed sustainable shopping environment, Oakwood Commons. First Interstate Properties has built a sound reputation as a development firm concerned about and responsible towards the impacts of commercial growth on surrounding areas. The First Interstate team is dedicated to superior work, quality relationships and uncompromising values. First Interstate becomes an active member of the local communities in which it owns and manages properties. Leadership recognizes that these projects require long-term commitments and in turn works hard to develop and nurture deep-rooted relationships in every one of the communities in which the developments call home.

Mitchell Schneider is the founding Principal of First Interstate and currently serves as Executive Chairman. Prior to founding First Interstate in 1989 with intent to be a development firm with a difference, Mr. Schneider practiced real estate development law. Mr. Schneider’s commitment to integrity filters through the work of each employee of First Interstate, as well as the myriad of professionals, consultants, contractors, and other service providers employed by First Interstate.

In January 2023, Chris Goodrich was named President of First Interstate Properties. Mr. Goodrich originally joined the company in 2005 and became Executive Vice President in 2013. He has a background in geotechnical engineering and has worked on deals involving brownfield cleanup, public-private partnerships and federal tax credits designed to drive investment into low-income communities. As President, Mr. Goodrich is responsible for development, construction, asset management and operations.
